It wasn't that Obi-Wan was unaware of what was going on on the island right now; even if he didn't make it a habit to listen to the radio each morning, there were suddenly a great deal more people running around the island than there usually were.

But since none of them appeared to be related to him, he was... unworried. He had brought the eopies back over the weekend, and he had decided to take today to clean up his office. Perhaps see if there was anyone who needed help of the ethical persuasion.

And if he had brought a bowl of candy just in case he needed to distract any children, well, that only seemed practical.

"Does he, now," Obi-Wan said, as he picked up the bowl of sweets.

Perhaps offering some to the child would convince him to take the volume down?

"Oooh," Ben said, staring wide-eyed into the bowl. "Can I have one? Or two?"

"One," Obi-Wan said, "But if you use your inside voice, I'll let you have another one. Does that sound fair to you?"

It seemed like a fair deal.

Ben nodded, eyes wide. "And then can you show me how to scream like a krayt dragon?"

When you're five, what makes Obi-Wan Kenobi awesome is sliiiiightly different.

Obi-Wan's mouth twitched. Briefly.

"Now," he said, "That might be a bit beyond your skills as of yet, young one. Start with something smaller, perhaps. A womp rat?"

Ben unwrapped his candy as he thought about it. "Regular sound or after it's been scared?"

"Well, we can hardly make this easy," Obi-Wan said. "The latter."

"Astral!" Ben crowed.

Obi-Wan looked faintly amused. Again.

And then he made a sound like a terrified womp rat.

Ben burst out laughing. "Again!"

"Oh, no," Obi-Wan said, sliding his hands into his sleeves. "It is your turn now, young one."

"Ben," he offered, smiling. "Ben Skywalker."

Ben Skywalker...?

He could see it now-- there was a clear resemblance to Anakin in those eyes. But Ben?

His hesitation lasted perhaps a fraction of a second too long for his response to be entirely believable. "It's a pleasure to meet you," Obi-Wan said. "Ah, Skywalker, is it? Where are your parents? Or your minder, I suppose."

"Mom's getting ready for her class, so I went 'sploring," Ben said. "Dad's back home."

"I see," Obi-Wan said. "I believe it's for the best if you stay here, then, until your mother is done with her class. What is her name?"

... Well, it wouldn't be Leia, most likely, or the child wouldn't be called Skywalker.

Or Ben. Presumably.

"Mara," Ben said promptly. "I'm named after you!"

In case you hadn't figured that out or something, Obi-Wan.

"Were you, now?"

Obi-Wan was smiling... faintly. He wasn't sure what to make of this; a Skywalker child with his name. His assumed name, that was, Crazy Ben who'd swept into Tatooine and stirred up trouble.

"Is your father's name Luke, by any chance?"

"It is!" Ben said, sounding absolutely thrilled that Obi-Wan knew that.

That smile was slightly less faint.

"And he hasn't taught you how to make a Krayt dragon call?" Obi-Wan said. "He appears to be skimping on your education."

"Mom says only outside and not on Coruscant because it'll scare stupid people," Ben recited.
