Sairis was beginning to think he might need some more clothing. There was only so many times you could wash the same two outfits, and anyway neither of them was really meant for this weather.

Hopefully someone would buy a potion or ward today.

He made tea in a fit of optimism, and locked the chair in the back room.

The classroom today was filled with beds, tempting books, and junk food. (Don’t tell Rory that Anakin had borrowed her stuff.)

“Sometimes ethical questions are life or death,” Anakin said, “and sometimes they are things like, ‘Do I lie and say I'm sick when I'm really just comfortable?”

"Despite, what some people say there's nothing inherently wrong with remembering to stop and take care of yourself when needed," Ahsoka added. "The issue can lie with figuring out what counts as needed."

Anakin, trained as he had been by the Walk it Off School of Jedi Training, look puzzled. "Like if you've lost a limb," he said. "Take a day or even two "

"Or possibly even three," Ahsoka said dryly, because with age had come some recognition that Anakin and Master Kenobi had a few blindspots.

"But none of you have lost a limb in this scenario," Anakin said, "you just don't want to get out of bed. Call us nd convince us you're sick." He smiled. "Or get out of bed like productive members of society."

Hey there island. It's ya girl, Arden Finch, coming at you with notes, news, and...something else that begins with n that I did not think of before radio started. Well! This broadcast is off to an amazing start.

Anyway, School! We got to talk about music yesterday in Squirrel!, which was great, and learned about cutting things in Beginning Gournet Cooking Techniques.

*squirrely chittering*

What? Just veggies and cuts of meat. You are so weird, rodents. And in Tasks, students had to make the biggest circle they could. *laughter* I'm sure Tasks makes sense in context, but the abridged notes I get are really weird.

No Dorms, no surprises, but Town! Caleb in Furnado learned a lot about movies from a dog named Morgan Freeman--wait. Did he learn about movies because of the dog's name, or did the dog actually talk to him? I hate that I have to ask this question in this town. Later in the afternoon, Rey was in the Perk, trying to not get mopped, and again, I have to ask what exactly that means. Would it kill you to give some context, squirrels? I swear you just think you're funny. Anyway, Officers McGarrett and Williams arrived home last night, and agreed that spring in Maryland is completely ridiculous. They're right and I'm glad they said it.

Anyway, that's all I got for y'all today, so this is ya girl, Arden Finch, signing off. In honor of class yesterday, enjoy some low-fi hophop beats, like pots and pans by potsu.

"I forget what we've done so far," Raiden, notoriously terrible of memory, admitted cheerfully, "so I don't remember if we did soup or not yet. So we're doing soup this week.

"Now, the thing about soup is you don't need a recipe. You can use a recipe! But even then you can follow it loosely. Use what you have, try to make sure the flavors don't clash in a weird way, and you're golden. You can't mess it up. The basic rule is that you're going to want some kind of fat, some aromatics--garlic, onion, ginger maybe--some vegetables and maybe some meat, and broth. Or...water. I can't stop you. But broth is better! You don't even have to make your own broth! They sell it in cartons at the grocery store now, it's amazing. So you put your fat--oil, butter, bacon grease, whatever floats your boat--in your pot, you cook your aromatics and then your vegetables and maybe meat in it, you add broth until it looks like soup, you maybe throw in a bay leaf, you let it simmer for a while, and ta-da! Soup! I'd say it's foolproof, but then they'll invent a better fool, so uh, be smarter than that? I don't know. Anyway, let's make soup. Think about your favorite kind of soup, and then find a recipe for it, or just try to figure it out on your own. Sometimes that's more fun."

The Semi-Feral kitten was becoming less so every time Caleb saw her. She'd apparently stopped hissing and swatting at the rest of the staff whenever they came to feed her and change her litter, and she was letting Caleb pet her, though not pick her up.

Meanwhile the new mother had her paws full with her kids, who's eyes were open and were starting to attempt to explore. She kept a close eye on anyone who came by to check on the kids but also seemed very cool with a bit of a break from said babies.

Meanwhile the dogs were really digging the warmer weather, even one old timer who just wanted to go from relaxing in his kennel to relaxing in the shade in the exercise yard.

"Why'd y'all name him Morgan Freeman?" Caleb asked one of the volunteers. "That seems like a very specific reference."

He got a lot of movie recommendations from that conversation.

Class was back in the Danger Shop today, and it was once again set up with cooking stations. "Good morning," Hannibal said once they were both there. "Last week, we learned about cuts of meat, and we have already discussed the importance of a good knife."

He picked up one of his own knives. "But there are techniques to using them. It is more complicated and elegant than simply hitting things with them. The key is control of your tools, something that will come into play in a future class."

Hannibal playing with knives
Cutting Techniques

"This week, we'll cover mincing, dicing, chopping, slicing, and julienning, among other things. There are many different types of cuts. They can help add interest to food's appearance, and are also important to ensure everything cooks at the proper rate. If you have different sized pieces of the same type of food, you'll end up with some of it overdone and some of it underdone." Don't do that, kids.

He gestured for them to join him up front to watch. "We will start with proper technique, as I'd prefer neither of you lose a finger." He went over the different grips and cutting techniques, demonstrating them.

"When cutting meat, you should always cut against the grain. Cutting the wrong way is a common error that can ruin a good meal." He showed them a rare piece of steak. "Meat is muscle fibers. Muscles travel in a specific direction; like wood, they have a grain." He showed them the long side of the meat.

"Because they're designed for strength, pulling muscle with the grain - or chewing it - is very difficult." He sliced a bit with the grain and tugged on it to show them. "So, when you're slicing meat, you should always cut in the other direction." He did a bit of that. "This makes it much more tender." He pulled that piece apart fairly easily.

"You all have various vegetables and some meat at your stations. Today you'll be making a vegetable beef soup to practice different cuts. Pay attention to the size each vegetable should be, or they won't all finish at the same time. And please watch how you cut your meat."

He nodded for them to begin.

He was interrupted by loud chittering.

"No, Leroy, this is not a class about you. Although honestly I'm astonished it took you this long to attempt a takeover."

Leroy hopped up on the desk and waved a tiny glass at him.

"Yes, I expect that would take precedence. However -"

Leroy began drunkenly singing off-key.

Jon rubbed the bridge of his nose. "Apparently today we are covering music. Loosely defined. Once he's done, please share your own. You don't have to sing it yourself; that's what phones are for."

Rey hadn't slept especially well last night, so she'd decided to camp out in the Perk for a bit today. She had to clean up some of her notes anyway, so she was seated at a table, writing in a notebook.

It was harder to do when a bored barista kept coming over to clean near her. Rey had had to move her feet twice now so she could mop. She felt like maybe they were trying to annoy her out of the shop, but she'd so far decided that wasn't happening.

Since his job(s) here in Fandom didn't take up a huge amount of time, and there was only so much pottery Gregorith could do, he was thinking of branching out into some other artforms as well.

Hence a bunch of crafting books spread out on his side of the front desk, which he wasn't paying much attention to just at the moment because he'd also decided to take up some of his admin work for Level 9 again and he was also going over proposals for certain peoples' consequences.

He was particularly pleased with the idea of a pocket realm where the soul in question would be surrounded by people completely ignoring them. That seemed appropriate for that guy.

But he was distracted from that because one of the hellhounds back home had had puppies and Bel had sent pictures, and he just found himself gazing out the door. He usually wasn't one to daydream but today was...

"Is this what Spring Fever feels like?"

The museum is open, but the Demon Docent is distractinated.

Good morning, everyone! It is I, Miss Lydia Bennet, here with the news! Or at least, everything the squirrels managed to scribble down. Let's get to it, shall we?

At the school, Overcoming Obstacles investigated the smelling abilities of dogs, and Cupcakes of the World(s) investigated the cupcakes of America's neighbors to the north, Canada.

In the town, Detective Watts was overseeing a paper aeroplane contest at the trooper station--now, I hardly understand the aeroplanes at all, but how could they possibly be safe if they're made out of paper? Anyway, he was joined by Mr. Grant for luncheon. Miss Skywalker found her warehouse woodchuck-free for once, and later Mr. Gregorith walked and, it seems, danced in the rain. As one does. And thus end my notes, dear listeners. Until next week!

Rey could cook just fine. It wasn't ever fancy or anything, but it was perfectly serviceable food that you'd be perfectly fine eating. However, when you had basically a domestic god for a boyfriend, it would be dumb to not have him teach you a few things.

"I'll warn you, I have probably only the basics of equipment here," she said as she looked through a cabinet. "But I do have them."

And if they needed anything she didn't have, they'd make it work.

Rey came into the warehouse to find a note written in terrible woodchuck-y handwriting (yes, she could tell) saying "GONE FISHING."

She had several questions about this. How long would they be gone, where were they going, do woodchucks even eat fish? Or were they just catching them and throwing them back, which was a whole other thing she do not understand.

At least it'd be quiet.

“Canada today,” Stark said. “It’s nearby.” Well, relatively. “See, here on the map.”

“I have two recipes, and examples from each, to try out today. I have cupcakes that taste like Nanaimo Bars and I have maple cupcakes as well because maple trees and maple syrup and everything maple is popular in Canada.” Stark paused. “It’s popular here too. Because it’s delicious. Very good with things like waffles and pancakes and good as a coffee flavor too…”

“Oh, and I brought actual Nanaimo bars from JGoB as well. So you can compare. Decide how well the cupcake represents the dessert it’s meant to mimic. Nanaimo bars aren’t actually baked so they won’t be exactly the same but I think the cupcakes are delicious and so are the bars.”

“So…as always, let’s get started?"

The low 60's were still a bit chilly for a demon but it was a lot warmer than it had been, so Gregorith decided it was a good night for a stroll.

And then it started to rain.

Okay then, it was a good night for a stroll with an umbrella.

And maybe, just maybe, he gave in to the random urge to twirl the umbrella and do a brief "Singin' In The Rain" spin.

The class was outside today. Because why not take advantage of nice weather while you can in the spring? Also, the dogs were going insane being cooped up. Absolutely insane.

"Today we'll be testing out the smelling capabilities of the dogs with you all," Tony said. "See if they have any skill there to keep training."

"Patriot is great at finding this to smell--" and then roll in, but details, "--but has difficulty moving on once he finds something that catches his attention," Steve said.

"And the other two mostly just want to always be running." These were the dogs they picked. "But we're sure you all can keep them on task!"

The entire history of those two dogs notwithstanding, of course.

"It'll be fun!" Steve said optimistically.
