It was the eopies who made it clear there was something amiss.
He had been inside meditating when it struck him. A sudden surge of alarm in the Force, noise from next door. Obi-Wan had not dared to break open the shack to put in a door to the eopie shelter; so he had to step outside before he could see what might be bothering them.
He didn't need to step any further.
Glitter came pouring down by the handfuls, scattering across his face, crawling into his beard and vanishing into the folds of his robes. He pulled up his hood a moment too late to prevent it from covering the entirety of his hair.
"Now this is inconvenient," he muttered, surveying the glittery desertscape forming before his eyes, "and hardly what I meant when I said something more like Tatooine would still fit me better."
Glitter didn't lend itself nearly as well to maudlin thoughts, just for one thing.
And the eopies were still making noise.
