Office #8, Friday

Obi-Wan had been careful not to move too much into his office, if simply because he had had little idea if he'd be staying for another semester. But his decision on that had now been made, and he could now spend the last day of this semester organizing the few items that had made it in here.

He'd be rifling through paperwork for most of the day, occasionally stopping to make notes for future consideration.

Perhaps he should bring some more light to the room. Add something that could boil water. And move in some instruction manuals for future classes. That would be useful.

"Yes," Obi-Wan said dryly, "That is just what this space needs - a reminder of our old fan club."

"I haven't had to do a press conference in years," Anakin said. "It's refreshing."

"I would say after so many years, it would become old hat," Obi-Wan said, "Which is not to say I miss the press conferences."

At all.

"I do the radio, but it's not the same at all," Anakin said.

Obi-Wan let out a snort. "I would say so," he said. "Radio appears to be even more interested in pointless gossip, if such a thing is even possible."

"I'm shocked to hear that you don't care if our students are checking their email, Master," Anakin replied.

"You seem to have some differences of opinion with the squirrels yourself," Obi-Wan said, with a quirk of his mouth. "Something about stupid hair...?"

"They don't like it," Anakin said, "but they're squirrels and therefore I don't care."

[saddeserthermit]

"They should have seen you shortly after you were knighted," Obi-Wan said.

Because that had been... an interesting... few weeks.

"Please tell me there aren't pictures," Anakin said as two little squirrel heads popped up in Obi-Wan's window, looking interested.

"Of your bald phase?" Obi-Wan mused, "Or of what came after?"

[sith_happened]

"Either. Both. Any," Anakin replied.

[saddeserthermit]

"Perhaps," Obi-Wan said, because occasionally he was terrible.

There was really excited squeaking from the window as Anakin groaned. "I can't staaaaaaand you."

"But if so, I believe I should keep them to myself," Obi-Wan said, "Provided the squirrels don't have a compelling argument."

"No," Anakin said, pointing at the squirrels before they could open their mouths.

[saddeserthermit]

Obi-Wan let out a soft snort. "Threatening wildlife," he said, shaking his head. "So. Is this a social call?"

"You were always the one who got along with the animals," Anakin said, "and I just wanted to make sure you were really all right. You know, away from students."

[saddeserthermit]

Obi-Wan let out a little sigh. "Age has not made you any less persistent," he said.

He didn't sound like he was sure that was a good thing.

"I'm fine."

Age hadn't made him less stubborn, either.

Anakin closed the door and then glared at the squirrels until they scampered off.

"You're sure."

Obi-Wan let out a sigh. "I've only said so repeatedly for the past several days," he said.

Well, yes, but you were also basically the progenitor of the now-ancient Skywalker family definition of 'I'm fine'.

"And I've had other family members use 'I'm fine' with me after trying to walk off other major emotional beatings and I didn't buy it from them, either," Anakin pointed out.

Obi-Wan reached up and pinched the bridge of his nose.

"I will be fine," he amended.

"Better," Anakin said with a small smile.

[saddeserthermit]

"It was a bit of a shock," Obi-Wan severely understated. "Though one that I should have predicted."
